Stakeholders of the Easter 1916 Rising
This illustration was created as part of an Illustrators Ireland historical illustration exhibition. It presents all those directly affected by the events of the 1916 Easter Rising, depicting the wide range of groups that made up the brigades and factions of the Irish Volunteers, the Irish Citizens Army, and Cumann na mBan. Among those involved were the British administration, the Dublin Metropolitan Police, and the various Irish regiments of the British Army that were stationed back in Ireland during that time, many of whom were in Irish regiments; but also civilians of Dublin who suffered most casualties and whose lives were most deeply affected by the events. The illustration includes a representative character from each aspect of the conflict. The various insignia of those groups sit beside them. The illustration acts as a way to humanise those who were caught up in the conflict and help educate the audience.
