The thermometer challenge was to create an essential tool in the care of patients. A tool as fundamental and ubiquitous as a doctor’s stethoscope. The brief required a design for high production volumes and low costs, disruptive with technology and cost. Temperature reading and trend data can inform early medical action and saves lives. InstaTemp MD is a non-touch thermometer that measures core body temperature, giving it a significant medical science advantage over traditional thermometers. A one touch button gives accurate core temperature in seconds. InstaTemp MD is available at 70% less cost, is cutting edge, and unaffected by climate. In third world countries, a cost effective, accurate thermometer becomes a lifesaving tool of significant importance. InstaTemp MD was used in Liberia during the country’s Ebola outbreak. It was researched, designed, developed and manufactured in Ireland.
