Griffith College Dublin 2016 1916

The project is a collaboration of various faculties, collaborating to create a body of work that was embedded in the commemorations of 1916. Students used key participants and buildings in the events of 1916 as design research ‘heroes’, applying this through their various disciplines. 2nd year Interiors students and tutors worked on a series of projects structured around the events of 1916, including up-cycling a chair of the period to reflect the personality of 1916 and researching and creating a scaled model of O’Connell Street. 2nd year Fashion design students and tutors worked on a women’s clothing design influenced by the women involved in the events of 1916. The Journalism and Photography faculties collaborated in a series of promotional pieces including written elements into large and small posters and other media for display purposes. MA Interior Architecture worked on historical comparisons between Dublin 1916 and Sarajevo 1996.
