Skye & Walker is an urban sustainable neighborhood eatery for globetrotters and savvy foodies in the heart of the ‘old’ Dubai. The main feature of the space is the use of reclaimed, recycled and eco-friendly materials. Innovative sustainable material selection ensured a quicker lead-time on joinery where fewer production steps were required due to the inherent qualities of the materials themselves. Existing granite countertops were also crushed and incorporated within the new tinted concrete floor. Scaffold planks were reused and turned to form the teardrop lighting fixtures, including the ‘petrified tall boy’ drawer units. Scrap timber was sourced and incorporated within geometric feature rugs. Stone veneer is used within joinery cladding and post consumer glass bottle waste was used, crushed and fired within a kiln to form the coffee table surfaces amongst other innovative materials, features and application.
