The brief for this project was to design an exhibition system to allow the IDI to tour its annual awards exhibition nationally and to be easily assembled and disassembled at each site without any specialist knowledge or tools. The system also needed to be reconfigurable as well as re-usable over a three to five-year lifespan. STANDARD uses off the shelf materials and connectors, with manufacturing reduced to a minimum through standardisation of parts. It is modular and offers a wide variety of display options and formats and can display up to four A1 and two A0 graphic panels on each unit, as well as 3D objects at two height options. STANDARD is versatile and visually minimal, the system is intuitive to assemble and requires no specialist knowledge and a minimum of tools. With some practice it can be assembled and disassembled by one person.
