‘SEEING’ Exhibition Design

SEEING is a temporary exhibition aimed at 15–25 year olds that ran through the Summer of 2016 and welcomed 130,000 visitors to The Science Gallery. The design team and the production team worked closely together on all aspects of the exhibition design. The exhibition designers worked closely on the production of built and graphic elements for the exhibition. The entire team met consistently to brainstorm ideas and to discuss how key design principles could translate across media so that 2D, 3D and lighting design read as one. This collaborative process led to a cohesive exhibition throughout but collaboration didn’t stop within the design team. Early discussions allowed collaborations to be struck up with stakeholders such as the gallery cafe and led to the exhibition design spilling out into the surrounding spaces, including the bathrooms where experimental quotes about SEEING could be read as visitors used the mirrors.
