Five Senses

A set of stamps capture the genius and variety of the human senses. Studio Zinc created a minimalist, illustration-led design that creates visual harmony between each of the senses. As a result, the stamps and the senses can be experienced independently and as a set. Print techniques were a critical component in realising the design visions. Taste – strawberry flavoured gum is applied to the reverse of the stamp. Touch – the stamp reacts to the warmth of the human touch as the thermochromatic ink changes its colour. Sight – the sight stamp uses an illustration of an eye printed on transparent paper to represent the clarity sight brings. Hearing – the thermography print technique embeds small particles on the print surface, creating noise when scratched. Smell – a mint fragrance has been added to the surface of the stamp.
