Nowhere II
The challenge of this project was to create a shop as a living installation that would be visually engaging for its commercial offering by day and as lighting theatre/light candy for the city’s flâneurs by night. A tight budget and timeline were also overcome by the designers themselves, directly contracting with suppliers and purchasing all specialist materials. Everything in this Nowhere store is bespoke. The design team and construction team originated everywhere from Paseo del Rey, Madrid, to Nenagh, Tipperary. The design consists of white marble concrete floor panel, central island and shop counter. A mirrored rear wall conceals additional storage and changing room areas. The lighting consists of aluminium profiles each containing two led lights, a white downlighter which provides a near daylight rendering to the shop during trading and a coloured programmable RGB uplighter which turns the shop interior into a Turrell-esque installation each night after dark.
