Arran Street East: The Pots
The Pots are a collection of tableware, made and fired in Dublin’s Markets Area. These are thrown by hand in stoneware clay, and glazed in colours inspired by the Fruit and Vegetable Market – cabbage, potato, parsnip, lemon, pomegranate and pink grapefruit. Using traditional processes, it brings clean, architectural lines and crisp handles to a traditional craft, producing functional objects. All are made for everyday use and are environmentally friendly. They are designed in two shapes, inward and outward – to keep tea warm, and let your coffee cool. Each pot is stamped with an A, inspired by the old Irish A on the Arran Street East street sign. After measuring and applying each handle, the designers develop and mix the market’s inspired glazes. From the graspable handles to the weight and volume of each pot, the simple forms and complementary-shaped cups are made to withstand everyday use or as a simple adornment to your home.
